Job Summary

As a key member of the Wasteplan team, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and productive operation of our waste management and recycling services. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Management
  • Plan and coordinate the deployment of personnel and resources to meet service level agreements (SLAs) and financial targets.
  • Recruit and manage a team of waste management professionals to ensure the effective delivery of services.
  • Develop and implement operational plans to optimize waste collection and recycling processes.
  • Ensure that all sites have the necessary equipment, stock, and consumables to operate efficiently.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure the achievement of SLAs and financial targets.
Transportation
  • Plan and coordinate the collection and transportation of recyclables to ensure timely and efficient delivery.
  • Liaise with transport providers to ensure the smooth operation of waste collection services.
  • Collect and deliver service delivery notes to the finance department.
Client Relations
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure their needs are met and exceeded.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to clients on service delivery and performance.
  • Address client concerns and issues in a timely and professional manner.
Personnel Management
  • Induct and train new staff members to ensure they are equipped to perform their roles effectively.
  • Manage staff performance and conduct regular performance reviews.
  • Ensure that all staff members are aware of and adhere to company policies and procedures.
Administration
  • Prepare and submit regular reports to management on key performance indicators (KPIs) and service delivery.
  • Manage and maintain accurate records of staff attendance, leave, and performance.
  • Ensure that all administrative tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
SHEQ Responsibilities
  • Ensure that all staff members have the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) to perform their roles safely.
  • Develop and implement training programs to ensure that staff members are aware of and comply with OHS regulations.
  • Ensure that all sites have up-to-date and accurate SHEQ files.
Requirements
  • Minimum Grade 12 (tertiary qualification is advantageous).
  • 5 years working experience in the waste management or recycling industry.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Passion for working with people and delivering excellent customer service.
