About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Business Development Manager - Investments to join our team at MERCHANT WEST. As a key member of our sales team, you will be responsible for driving sales growth, expanding client relationships, and promoting our investment fund range. This is a hunting role that requires identifying new business opportunities, engaging with financial advisors and institutional clients, and ensuring that investment solutions align with client needs and market trends.

This position involves developing and implementing a sales strategy to grow assets under management (AUM). You will identify and pursue new business opportunities within the financial advisory and institutional investor sectors. Building and maintaining strong relationships with financial advisors, wealth managers, and institutional investors is crucial for success in this role.

You will serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing insights on investment solutions. Conducting presentations, workshops, and training sessions to educate clients on MERCHANT WEST's investment offerings is also essential. Delivering ongoing support and market updates to ensure high client engagement is vital for building trust and loyalty.

Market analysis and product development support are critical aspects of this role. Monitoring industry trends, competitor offerings, and regulatory changes to identify market opportunities is essential. Providing feedback to the investment and product teams to enhance product development and positioning is also necessary. Working with marketing to develop compelling sales materials and campaigns is crucial for promoting MERCHANT WEST's investment products.

To be successful in this role, you must have a strong understanding of investment products, financial markets, and regulatory frameworks in South Africa. Proficiency in CRM (Dynamics 365), financial analysis tools, and Microsoft Office Suite is also required. A minimum of 3–5 years of experience in investment sales, business development, or financial advisory is necessary.

Key skills include strong sales and negotiation skills, excellent interpersonal and relationship management abilities, strategic thinking, and high-energy self-motivation. Strong communication and presentation skills are also essential for success in this role.
