We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to support our laboratory team at Watertowergroup Co.
The successful candidate will assist with preparing samples, maintaining equipment, and ensuring the lab operates smoothly and safely.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare, label, and organize samples for testing, adhering to established protocols and quality control measures.
- Assist in conducting routine lab tests and experiments under supervision, utilizing analytical instruments and techniques.
- Clean and sterilize laboratory equipment and workspaces to maintain a safe and efficient environment.
- Record data accurately and maintain detailed logs of experiments and results, using electronic data management systems.
- Manage laboratory supplies, ensuring stock levels are maintained and ordering new materials as needed.
- Follow health and safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment, adhering to regulations and guidelines.
- Support lab technicians and scientists with additional tasks as required, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork.
Minimum: Matric / Grade 12 Certificate with Mathematics and Science (Physical or Life Sciences preferred).
Preferred: Certificate or Diploma in Laboratory Technology, Biotechnology, or a related scientific field from institutions like False Bay College, Tshwane University of Technology, or Central University of Technology.
National Certificate in Medical Laboratory Assistance offered by Health and Welfare SETA or other accredited training providers is beneficial.
A Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in a relevant field is advantageous for career growth.
Certifications:Health and Safety Training Certification (e.g., First Aid Level 1, Hazardous Chemical Handling) is highly beneficial.
Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) Certification is advantageous.
Skills & Competencies:- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in laboratory procedures.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and record-keeping, including electronic data management systems.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with ability to collaborate with colleagues.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, regulated environment, prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively.
- Physical stamina to handle equipment and samples, with adaptability to changing situations.
