About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join our team at Unique Personnel Ltd. The successful candidate will be responsible for co-ordinating the smooth and efficient operation of our plant, ensuring safety, quality and production goals are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of the plant to ensure safety, quality, and production goals are met or exceeded
  • Ensure all machinery in the plant is in perfect working condition
  • Assist in resolving unscheduled breakdowns
  • Perform factory walk-abouts to check if all quality and food safety related records are adhered to, and sign off
  • Identify non-conforming equipment to ensure that it is not accidentally used
  • Ensure that all equipment has the correct identification
  • Adhere to hygiene Code of conduct and Integrated Management systems Policies
  • Communicates and disseminates information among production staff
  • Leads problem solving sessions to solve production, quality and safety issues
  • Monitors machine parts, production supplies and production equipment to maintain their good working order
  • Recognises waste streams and minimises waste generation through prudent use of materials, proper disposal and segregation
  • Understands emergency procedures, equipment, and systems, and is able to implement contingency plans
  • Works to reduce waste, spoilage and downtime
  • Creates, implements and ensures adherence to shift schedule. Shift schedule will include work station assignments/rotations, employee training,employee vacations, employee breaks, overtime assignments, back-up for absent employees, and shift rotations
  • Reviews shift schedules to ensure optimisation of set up changes
  • Coordinates production start-ups, shutdowns, and changeovers
  • Evaluates products to ensure compliance with established quality control standards
Requirements
  • Minimum of a First Degree or Higher National Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Minimum of 7 years experience, 5 of which must be in a similar role within the manufacturing industry
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a Supervisory role
