About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Franchise Manager to join our team at Kencorp. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for driving the success of our fast food franchise business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Portfolio Management: Oversee a portfolio of restaurants, ensuring they are operating efficiently and effectively.
  • Sales and Profitability: Drive sales and profitability growth across the franchise network, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing strategies to achieve targets.
  • Business Planning: Assist franchisees in developing and implementing business plans and budgets, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with franchise agreements and company policies, identifying and mitigating risks to the business.
  • Financial Management: Interpret monthly management accounts, benchmark performance, and suggest corrective actions to improve financial outcomes.
  • Project Management: Sign off project plans and execute restaurant revamps, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery.
  • Brand Integrity: Protect brand integrity through the implementation and measurement of Standards of Operations Programs.
  • Training and Development: Identify and communicate formal training needs to the training department, ensuring franchisees have the skills and knowledge required to succeed.
  • Marketing and Sales: Assist franchisees in selecting and formulating locality marketing strategies to increase brand awareness and grow business turnovers.
  • National Marketing: Ensure implementation of national marketing campaigns, driving brand awareness and sales growth.
  • Operational Excellence: Enforce correct use of supporting elements, such as point of sale and premiums, to maintain operational excellence.
  • Leadership and Teamwork: Act as a brand custodian, ensuring brand integrity is protected at all times through adherence to company requirements across key functions.
  • Lease and Rental Negotiations: Negotiate leases and rentals with property groups for various sites, ensuring optimal terms for the business.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor turnover performance, achieve budgeted LOL growth, and drive brand marketing strategy.
  • Financial Presentations: Provide financial presentations to the management team and franchisee network, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Customer Service: Foster customer service excellence, conducting weekly calls, monthly feedback, and one-on-ones with individual franchisees.
  • Franchisee Engagement: Drive franchisee attendance and participation at regional meetings, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
  • Expense Management: Manage expense budgets, accommodation expenses, traveling expenses, and show expense control initiative.
  • Operations Reviews: Conduct regional operations reviews, ensuring compliance with health regulations, customer complaints, and leadership and teamwork standards.
  • Business Profitability: Drive business profitability for franchisees, achieving 100% of all store targets.
Requirements
  • Education: Business Diploma + Grade 12.
  • Experience: 3 years of multi-store experience in the restaurant industry as an Area/Regional/Franchise Manager.
  • Skills: Advanced Excel skills, 5 years of experience in GAAP/Micros, 5 years of experience in food cost control, labor control, budgets, expenses, and sales targets.
  • Language: Fluency in English (en-US).
  • Travel: Must be able to travel daily.
  • Citizenship: Only South African citizens will be considered.
