Lead Cargo Sales Executive

We are excited to present a remarkable opportunity to join Qatar Duty Free as a Lead Cargo Sales Executive in Johannesburg, South Africa.

In this role, you will be responsible for maximizing cargo revenue at the designated station through effective sales techniques and promotional activities. You will also provide cargo operations and customer service functions, engaging with clients and Ground Handling Agents for both import and export cargo.

Key Responsibilities:

Engage with freight forwarders, direct shippers, and consignees via telephone, addressing customer inquiries, providing rate quotes, and optimizing commercial functions related to export bookings and deliveries while maintaining high service standards. Collaborate with local Ground Handling Agents and the Head Office Cargo Department to ensure a superior quality of service for both import and export operations. Assist import customers with cargo clearance, coordinating with customs authorities to ensure smooth and timely processes, and liaising with headquarters and origin stations for necessary support. Strategically plan flights to maximize capacity utilization and oversee operations for both export and import. Coordinate with customers and the cargo claims supervisor at headquarters to manage discrepancies and handle all administrative matters related to the stations. Provide timely updates on cargo-related information to customers regarding customs, governmental, and health regulations to ensure compliance and avoid penalties. Ensure that notifications regarding cargo arrival are sent to freight forwarders, agents, and direct customers to prevent prolonged custody of cargo and mitigate damage risks. Maintain awareness of health and safety requirements to minimize risks for yourself and colleagues. Prepare weekly, monthly, or as-needed service reports, including system accounting updates for every flight departure.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

Relevant vocational, tertiary, or trade qualifications. A minimum of 3 years of pertinent experience. Exceptional communication skills with fluency in English. A high-energy, positive attitude suitable for a fast-paced, demanding environment. Advanced computer literacy. Knowledge of IATA/TACT regulations. Experience in cargo sales. Strong customer focus and commitment to service excellence. Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong team-oriented mindset.
