Systems Administrator

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Administrator to join our team at FirstRand Bank Limited. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our computer systems and networks.
Key Responsibilities
- Installation and setup of workstations and servers for mainstream manufacturers (IBM, HP, Dell)
- Daily capacity and health checks, software maintenance, and customization
- Active Directory management, DNS, DHCP, WINS
- Creation of batch schedules
- Creation of change orders, coding of basic JCL, and coding of basic automation
- Support for batch FTP and creation of FTP encryption data by development
- Analysis and change of batch schedules on request
- Control of illegal intrusions from non-permissible entities outside the corporate network
- Management of group corporate server infrastructure
- Advice on security prevention enhancements
- Maintenance of backup systems according to baseline standards to ensure business continuity
- Control of server and network hardware that may cause system downtime
- First-time resolution of customer queries or complaints and ownership of requirements and follow-up on queries handed over to other parties or areas to ensure delivery on agreed timelines and service level agreements
- Meet set turnaround times while ensuring own availability, reliability, and accuracy
- Proposal of improvements on internal processes that impact service levels and customer satisfaction within the area of accountability
- Ensuring own product knowledge and guidance provided is technically accurate and collecting feedback to help improve customer service
- Establishment of relationships with relevant individuals and departments to deliver on work expectations
- Adherence to relevant service level agreements to build trust in the relationship
- Execution of own work in accordance with the organizational values and code of ethics
- Compliance with and adherence to identified governance and compliance standards and escalation of problems for investigation and resolution
- Identification and escalation of risk as a normal part of work
- Production of high-quality work by adhering to predefined standards and procedures and in accordance with compliance and governance standards
- Work with enhanced processes and procedures to maintain operational efficiencies
- Delivery of work in an accurate manner to ensure consistent results
- Draw on knowledge and experience to identify and develop solutions that lead to improved service delivery and quality
- Adherence to quality standards, turnaround times, and company policies and procedures
- Completion of relevant administration, reporting, and updating of information accurately and on time
- Creation of own personal development plan and review plan with team leader or manager
- Keeping abreast of learning opportunities, changing products, and trends
- Contribution to teamwork and inclusivity by working together to achieve team goals
