About the Role: We are seeking two outstanding candidates (one Intern: Investigations and one Intern: Campaigns) to join our small, dedicated team based in Cape Town. The successful candidates will assist in managing advocacy related to our investigations and litigation, including producing content for our social media platforms and website. They will also undertake investigations into historic and contemporary economic crime in South Africa and other parts of Africa, read, summarise, and archive research material, write reports and articles, and contribute to other work areas as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Undertake investigations into historic and contemporary economic crime in South Africa and other parts of Africa. Read, summarise, and archive research material.
  • Write reports and related occasional articles for our website, media partners, and social media platforms.
  • Assist in managing advocacy related to our investigations and litigation, including producing content for our social media platforms and website.
  • Collaborate with our partners in civil society.
  • Contribute to other work areas as needed.
  • Assist in managing our social media.
  • Create high-quality multi-media content (including factsheets, podcasts, and explainer videos) for our social media platforms.
  • Assist in organising our in-person and online events, including a People's Hearing on Economic Crime.
  • Collaborate with our partners in civil society.

Requirements:

  • A strong work ethic, integrity, and a demonstrated commitment to social justice.
  • A committed team player with an inquisitive mind who values collaboration.
  • Ongoing or completed postgraduate studies in a related field (politics, history, economics, journalism, law, etc.).
  • Strong research, writing, and organisational skills.
  • Strong command of basic Microsoft Office Suite programmes (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Able to work through an intersectional lens.
