Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Transport Controller to join our team at SA Metal. The primary purpose of this role is to assist with organizing the logistics of our Waste Control operations, ensuring smooth operation and meeting the requirements of our clients.

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Manage daily transport service requirements
  • Coordinate vehicle routing and scheduling
  • Ensure exceptional customer service levels
  • Maintain a fleet in roadworthy condition, adhering to company policy regarding branding and cleanliness
  • Supervise drivers and truck assistants effectively
  • Manage discipline, timekeeping, and attendance for drivers and truck assistants
  • Liaise with the Human Resources department regarding staff-related issues
  • Ensure Occupational Health and Safety requirements are met
Qualifying Criteria

To be considered for this role, applicants must possess:

  • A Grade 12 certificate or equivalent
  • Prior experience in fleet controlling is advantageous
  • A Transport Management qualification or similar is advantageous
  • Proven leadership ability, demonstrated through leading by example
  • A valid, unendorsed EC (Code 14) driver's license and PrDP
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Working knowledge of vehicle tracking systems
