Landfill Engineer Job Description

At Recruitment Matters, we are seeking a highly skilled Landfill Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and operating landfills, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and implementing safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and Operations: Design new or expand existing landfills, including site selection, geotechnical analysis, drainage systems, gas collection and control systems, and liner systems.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Prepare and submit permit applications to regulatory agencies, and ensure compliance with all environmental regulations.
  • Construction and Maintenance: Oversee the construction of landfill infrastructure, including liner installation, leachate collection systems, and gas collection wells.
  • Environmental Monitoring: Design and implement environmental monitoring programs for groundwater, surface water, air quality, and landfill gas migration.
  • Closure and Safety: Develop and implement closure plans for landfills reaching capacity, and develop and implement safety protocols for landfill operations.
Requirements:
  • Education: B-Tech/BSC Civil/Rural Engineering qualification.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in Earthworks, Waste/Landfill Management.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of solid waste management, landfill design, and environmental regulations, proficient in engineering software for site design, data analysis, and modeling.
