Job Summary

HR Genie is seeking a highly skilled Financial Manager to lead the financial operations of our organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for directing the financial activities of the company, ensuring compliance with national and international accounting standards, and implementing sound financial management practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct the financial operations of the company, ensuring cost-effectiveness and profitability.
  • Manage and control the accounting department, promoting efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure that the finance and administration department meets its objectives, adhering to company and group procedures.
  • Implement sound financial management practices, adhering to national and international accounting standards.
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate overall financial activities for operations.
  • Compile budgets and perform financial forecasts as required.
  • Manage cash flows, ensuring adequate liquidity.
  • Monitor and review financial statements, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Revise and implement accounting department work procedures.
  • Monitor and review accounting and financial data for completeness, accuracy, and validity.
  • Maintain the fixed assets register.
  • Assist in formulating and implementing business strategies.
  • Exposure of fruitless and wasteful expenditure to improve profitability.
  • Review trial balance on a monthly basis before reporting.
  • Verify investments and capex decisions.
  • Report progress and staff problems within Finance to the Cluster CFO.
  • Monitor compliance with relevant standards and statutory requirements, including SARS, GAAP/IFRS.
  • Tax calculations.
  • Tax filing and obtaining necessary tax certificates.
  • Attend tax queries to and from tax authorities.
  • Ensure tax compliance and deadlines are met.
  • Review audit files in preparation for external and internal audits.
  • Coordinate external audits and internal audits.
  • Draft statutory financial statements.
  • Responsible for tax & cash flow forecasts, actual cash flow, and explaining variances.
  • Calculation of provisional, income, and deferred taxation.
  • Completion of SOX compliance questionnaire, ensuring compliance, and reporting non-compliance to CFO (internal audit).
  • Monthly, quarterly, and yearly reporting to Paris using internet-based reporting tools.
  • Completion of VECTOR & XRT (treasury) packages, reviewing the latter for.
  • Formulation, review, and implementation of internal policies and procedures.
  • Authorisation and purchase of foreign exchange contracts (FEC).
  • Assistance to CFO with bonds & guarantees.
  • Calculation of the Mark to Market of the open FEC.
  • Setting of KPIs and targets for accounting staff.
  • Coaching and mentoring of staff.
  • Completion of Stats SA questionnaire on a quarterly, half-yearly, and yearly basis.
  • Review of creditors payment reconciliation before payment.
  • Monitoring of the daily cash position and investment of excess funds to reduce the overdraft position.
  • Authorisation of BOP forms for incoming funds.
  • Approval of the change of supplier banking details.
  • Calculation of the company's net financial result.
  • Management of relationships with banks.
  • Interaction with financial institutions to ensure adequate facilities are available.
  • Administration of bank guarantees/bonds.
  • Interaction with external auditors to ensure timely submission of audited annual financial statements.
