Job Description:

The Public Works Specialist will be responsible for managing departmental assets, ensuring compliance with legislative and statutory requirements, and developing strategic plans for asset management. This role requires a high level of expertise in asset management, finance, and supply chain management.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Implement and manage the asset management system, including establishment and implementation of policies and procedures;
  2. Develop and maintain asset registers, including acquisitions, maintenance management, transfers, and valuations;
  3. Develop and implement mechanisms to safeguard assets and prepare monthly reconciliations;
  4. Ensure compliance with relevant legislative, statutory, and regulatory requirements;
  5. Determine and communicate financial requirements for assigned deliverables;
  6. Human Resource Management.

Requirements:

  • A suitable 3-year B-Degree in Financial Accounting/Supply Chain Management/Commerce;
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in Finance/Supply Chain Management/Accounting/Auditing;
  • Knowledge of Accounting, SCOA, PFMA, and Logistical Information System (LOGIS);
  • Skills: Written and verbal communication, proven computer literacy in MS Office package, ability to work independently and as part of a team, problem-solving, and decision-making.

Benefits:

R 444 036 - R 532 602 per annum (Salary level 9) with service benefits or obligations for qualifying employees. Note that these benefits are funded or co-funded in terms of applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
