Civil Water Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Water Engineer to join our team at The Legends Agency. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for designing and managing water infrastructure projects, ensuring they meet our high standards and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage a team of engineers, technicians, and draughtspeople to deliver water infrastructure projects on time and within budget.
  • Develop and implement systems for smooth project execution, ensuring synergy and coherence across the Civil Engineering department.
  • Design and report on water infrastructure projects, including water treatment plants, reservoirs, and steel pipelines.
  • Prepare proposals, tenders, and contract documents for water infrastructure projects nationally and internationally.
  • Monitor and implement site construction work, ensuring compliance with design specifications and standards.
  • Coordinate and supervise the production of technical drawings, design, and reporting inputs by supporting staff.
  • Client liaison, including meetings and reporting.
  • Compliance with the company's Quality Management System ISO9001 requirements.
  • Assist with the preparation of requests for proposals, expressions of interest, panel applications, and tenders.
  • Manage projects and monitor performance and profitability.
Requirements:
  • BEng (Civil) or BTech (Civil) degree or equivalent.
  • Professional registration or registrability with ECSA as PrEng/PrTech and SAICE or any recognized professional body.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in engineering design, management, and construction.
  • Extensive experience in design and construction of steel water pipelines, pump stations, reservoirs, abstraction works, and water treatment plants.
  • Legal knowledge of Employee Equity Act, Labour and Employment laws, OHS Act, design compliance standards.
  • Knowledge of MS Office, MS Project, various civil and water design software.
  • Driver's license is essential.
  • Quality Management - ensure ISO compliance.
  • Regular interprovincial and international site visits and meetings.
