Job Title: Data Centre Manager

Plus1X Solutions (Pty) Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Data Centre Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the maintenance, support, and deployment of all hosting solutions and associated support services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate operational changes across all stakeholders and ensure seamless execution.
  • Manage day-to-day interactions with third-party suppliers and maintain strong relationships.
  • Plan and implement optimal technology services to meet business needs.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities and implement changes to enhance efficiency.
  • Provide input into IT strategies related to the data centre environment and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Maintain and manage corporate infrastructure systems, email, collaboration tools, and hosted environments.
  • Ensure all servers are equipped with necessary tools and maintain hosting environments to ensure high uptime.
  • Act as an advisory for technicians on complex issues and provide guidance to ensure resolution.
  • Maintain and update all related SOPs to ensure compliance and best practices.
  • Review and maintain vendor performance levels to ensure high standards are met.
  • Establish and maintain operational service committees with service providers to ensure effective communication.
  • Ensure adherence to IT governance processes and SLAs to ensure business continuity.
  • Act as a point of escalation for unresolved issues and provide timely resolution.
  • Keep all related diagrams and designs up to date to ensure accurate representation.
  • Provide technical advice to the business and ensure alignment with IT strategies.
  • Mentor service desk employees for their growth and development.
  • Assist in migration between data centres when necessary and ensure smooth transition.
  • Contribute to the due diligence process when required and provide expert input.
Requirements:
  • Relevant degree/diploma preferred, with a strong focus on IT and data centre management.
  • ITIL V4.0 certification and A+ and N+ certifications are highly desirable.
  • Minimum 8 years of IT experience with datacentre management expertise and a strong track record of success.
  • Exceptional knowledge of cloud and physical data centres, hosting platforms, IoT, and ITIL principles.
  • Strong crisis management and critical thinking skills, with the ability to make informed decisions.
  • Project management and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain sustainable relationships.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and ability to work independently with a high sense of urgency.
  • Result-driven with a high sense of urgency, innovative, goal-oriented, and analytical.
