We are seeking a Gender Identity Rights Advocate to join our team at Labourwise HR.

About the Job

This exciting opportunity involves advocating for individuals' right to change their identity documents based on gender self-determination.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Advocate for individuals' right to change their identity documents based on gender self-determination.
  • Work closely with the Department of Home Affairs to analyse Act 49 and the New Identities Management System.
  • Develop SOPs for Act 49, focusing on inclusive aspects for trans and gender-diverse persons and new identities management.
  • Act as amicus curiae in legal proceedings related to gender identity rights.
  • Assess cases to determine alignment with organisational scope and provide support in the litigation process.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in project management, strategic management law, public health, social sciences, education, or any other relevant discipline.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in a law environment.
  • Skills: Clear understanding of media marketing and communication & Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • LAW Environment Experience: Previous experience in a legal environment, with a strong understanding of legal processes and frameworks.
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Valid driver's license.
    • Office-based role.
    • Preferably identifies as transgender.
    • Preference given to candidates from the LGBT community.
  • Availability: Immediate availability to start.
