Facilitator for Neurodivergent Teen

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Facilitator to support a 17-year-old neurodivergent teen in the Constantia area. The successful candidate will provide a safe and nurturing environment, enabling the individual to thrive and reach their full potential.
Main Responsibilities:
- Establish a trusting relationship with the learner, prioritizing nervous system safety and well-being.
- Attend school with the learner, providing support and scaffolding in their immediate school environment.
- Act as a bridge of communication between the teacher, learner, and parents, ensuring seamless collaboration.
- Assist with breaking down tasks and chunking information, implementing movement and sensory breaks as needed.
- Facilitate the learner's understanding and academic learning in structured and unstructured domains.
- Support and encourage the development of executive functioning skills, including planning, organization, problem-solving, and asking for help.
- Liaise with the learner's multidisciplinary team, consistently implementing support structures and strategies.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 14:00.
Requirements:
- Fluent in English and Afrikaans.
- Driver's license and own reliable car.
- Job-related work experience.
- Previous experience in a schooling environment or facilitating role (desirable).
- Previous experience working with neurodivergent children (essential).
Job Related Knowledge:
- Familiarity and knowledge of autism spectrum condition (ASC).
- Familiarity and knowledge of Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
- Familiarity with a low-demand PDA-friendly approach.
