Job Title: Yard Controller

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Yard Controller to join our team at Assign Services (Pty) Ltd - JHB. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient movement of vehicles, products, and pedestrians within the yard area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Control the movement of vehicles, products, and pedestrians in the yard area to minimize the risk of incidents.
  • Apply and enforce general safety regulations and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
  • Assist trucks, including own and third-party vehicles, while they reverse in the yard and between the mill and warehouse.
  • Monitor the loading and offloading of trucks, ensuring safe practices and keeping pedestrians clear of vehicles and machinery.
  • Control the flow of trucks and communicate with security to ensure smooth operations.
  • Ensure man and machine separation where possible.
  • Control and manage the area and cores received from suppliers and the factory, as well as the core stands to ship cores back from converting.
  • Manage the pallet area and ensure the safe stacking of pulp in the yard area and designated areas.
  • Perform daily checks on stacked pulp to ensure safety.
  • Manage and maintain housekeeping in the yard area.
  • Provide optimal customer service and assist in resolving customer issues.
  • Supervise customer and company staff in all yard operations.
  • Monitor the loading of materials to ensure safe transfer to other stores.
  • Coordinate with other departments and investigate accidents to identify the root cause of damage.
  • Liaise with Security and assist with CCTV investigations and compiling evidence for accidents and incidents.
  • Monitor and ensure wadding is shipped from the Factory to the warehouse as soon as possible.
  • Ensure Truck Drivers and Material Handlers adhere to all safety rules.
  • Ensure Truck drivers adhere to the standard operating procedure in shipping stock from the Mill to the warehouse.
  • Report any delays immediately.
  • Familiarize yourself with the duties of the Receiving supervisor and assist in their absence when required.

Requirements:

  • 4-5 years of experience within a paper/tissue making environment.
  • Matric with maths and science.
  • Code 14 driver's license.
  • Forklift license would be an added advantage.

The successful candidate will be working in a fast-paced environment with a focus on safety and efficiency. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
