About the Role

At Sappi, we are seeking an experienced professional to lead our environmental performance initiatives. As an Environmental Manager - Fixed Term Contract, you will be responsible for driving our sustainability agenda and ensuring compliance with national and local environmental laws and regulations.

You will work closely with our teams to identify and assess potential environmental risks, develop mitigation strategies, and implement internal and external EIA processes to ensure Environmental Authorisations are obtained for Khulisa activities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing environmental policies and procedures to minimize impacts on the environment.
  • Conducting internal environmental audits to ensure conformance with environmental standards.
  • Providing technical environmental support in the development of strategic plans for Khulisa growers.
  • Liaising with managers to prepare for and during external audits to ensure certification is achieved and maintained.

Requirements:

  • MSc degree in the natural sciences or Environmental Management.
  • Registration as Environmental Assessment Practitioner with EAPASA.
  • 5 years relevant experience.
