Strategic HR Manager for a Coal Mine in Mpumalanga

Established recruitment agency, FRIMO RECRUITMENT AGENCY, is seeking an experienced Strategic HR Manager to join their team at a coal mine in Mpumalanga.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all human resources functions, including labour relations, disciplinary hearings, and grievance management.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement HR strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives.
  • Coordinate and facilitate disciplinary and grievance hearings, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of disciplinary hearings and grievances.
  • Prepare and submit regular reports on HR-related matters.
  • Provide training and information to line managers and employees on labour-related matters.
  • Attend to day-to-day HR matters, ensuring seamless operations.
  • Ensure compliance with Employment Equity (EE), Workplace Skills Plan (WSP), and Department of Mineral Resources (DMR) regulations.
  • Review and update HR/IR-related company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current legislation and case law.
  • Monitor internal labour-related trends and submit relevant reports to the business.
  • Facilitate regular meetings between management and organised labour, as well as other stakeholders.
  • Liaise with medical aid and provident fund service providers, managing HR department subordinates effectively.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with trade unions.
Requirements
  • Degree or Diploma in Labour Relations, Labour Law, or Human Resources.
  • Computer literacy and valid SA driver's license.
  • At least 4-6 years of experience in a similar role within the mining industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of Labour Relations Act (LRA), Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA), EE, CCMA, and wage negotiations.
  • Legal background and multilingualism (especially isiZulu) will be advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Able to work independently, think critically, and drive solutions.
  • Pro-active, assertive, deadline-driven, and able to function effectively in a stressful environment.
Estimated Salary Range

R1,200,000 - R1,800,000 per annum, depending on experience.
