Smith Garb and Associates CC, a leading manufacturing concern based in the East of Johannesburg, is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Supervisor to join their team. This role offers a competitive salary of R400,000 - R550,000 per annum, commensurate with experience.

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled and experienced professional to oversee the accounts payable process, ensuring timely payments to suppliers, accurate reconciliations, and effective team management. As an ideal candidate, you will have a strong background in finance, excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead and mentor a team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement an effective accounts payable system, ensuring optimal prompt payment discounts from suppliers;
  • Supervise the accounts payable processing and relationships with suppliers, procurement, and operations teams;
  • Oversight of daily functions, including payment reconciliation, remittance verification, and supplier account vetting;
  • Preparation and review of weekly cash flow reports, monthly payment forecasts, and customs VAT and clearing agents' payment forecasts;
  • Accrual and journal information gathering and processing, as well as age analysis reconciliation and GRIR report clearance;
  • Team coordination, ensuring batches are processed timeously, accuracy checks, and SARS compliance;
  • Banking contract accuracy checks, foreign payments release from SAP, and FEC bank settlement processing;
  • Liaison with external auditors and resolution of audit findings;
  • Assistance in designing and implementing adequate systems of control, assessing current systems for weaknesses, and suggesting improvements;
  • Supervision and mentoring of staff, performing ad-hoc tasks as required.
Requirements
  • A BCom degree or finance-related qualification essential;
  • 5-10 years creditors experience, preferably in a supervisory role with 5+ staff reporting;
  • Sound knowledge of Incoterms and SAP essential;
  • Matric/Grade 12 academic qualifications.
