Job Summary:

The Recruitment Council is seeking an experienced Internal Audit Manager to join our team. This role involves providing independent and objective assurance and consulting services to the board, audit committee, and executive management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the internal audit team in developing and executing a risk-based audit plan, ensuring a systematic and disciplined approach to evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management, control systems, and governance processes within the company.
  • Conduct audits and reviews of the company's activities, systems, and processes, evaluating the management of risks within the organization and assessing the effectiveness of internal controls in mitigating identified risks.
  • Provide consulting services to business units to enhance their operations, communicating audit findings to management promptly and professionally.
  • Ensure the development and implementation of action plans to address audit issues, monitoring the implementation of action plans and reporting audit activities, findings, and recommendations to the audit committee.
  • Coordinate and cooperate with external auditors, compliance functions, and other assurance providers, managing and leading the internal audit team.

Requirements:

  • CA(SA) or Certified Internal Auditor (SA) certification is non-negotiable, with IT Risk and Audit Certification and Risk Management Certification being desirable.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in audit, with a minimum of 3 years in internal audit, and experience leading/managing an internal audit team.
  • Broad range of audit experience, including operations and financial audits, with IT audit experience and experience auditing insurance companies being desirable.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and the Code of Ethics of the Institute of Internal Auditors South Africa (IIA SA).
  • Knowledge of IFRS and understanding of the statutory environment of an insurance company, as well as knowledge of King IV and other governance principles.
  • Understanding of Risk Management, IT risk, governance processes, and controls, as well as knowledge of data management frameworks and ability to analyze big data.
