Internal Audit Director

**Job Overview**
The Recruitment Council is seeking a highly skilled Internal Audit Director to lead our internal audit team in carrying out key responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a risk-based audit plan.
- Conduct audits and reviews of our activities, systems, and processes.
- Evaluate whether risks within the organization are appropriately managed.
- Evaluate whether internal controls are effective in mitigating identified risks.
- Provide consulting services to business units in improving operations.
- Ensure timely, effective, and professional communication of audit findings to management.
- Develop and implement action plans to address identified issues.
- Monitor implementation of action plans.
- Report to the audit committee on functions, activities, findings, and recommendations.
- Conduct follow-up reviews to ensure identified issues are resolved.
**Requirements**
- Certified Internal Auditor (SA) or CA(SA) qualification.
- IT Risk and audit certification (desirable).
- Risk management certification (desirable).
- Risk modelling (desirable).
Desirable Qualifications**
- Advanced knowledge of International Standards for Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and Code of Ethics of Institute of Internal Auditors South Africa (IIA SA).
- Knowledge of IFRS.
- Knowledge of statutory environment of an insurance company.
- Knowledge of King IV and other governance principles.
- Knowledge of Risk Management.
- Understanding of IT risk, best practice governance processes, and controls.
- Knowledge of data management frameworks.
- Ability to analyze big data.

- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Awareness of internal assurance best practice.
- High attention to detail.

- Proficiency in MS Office Suite with emphasis on advanced Excel skills.
- Adaptability and flexibility to respond to unfamiliar tasks and changing needs, priorities, direction, and timing.
Experience**
- 3-5 years in audit, minimum 3 of which in internal audit.
- Experience in leading/managing an internal audit team.
- Experience across a broad range of audit areas including operations and financial audits.
- Experience in IT audit (desirable).
- Experience in insurance company audit (desirable).
