Job Overview:

West Coast Personnel is seeking a highly skilled Internal Audit Manager to lead our internal audit function. This role is responsible for providing assurance and consulting services to the board, audit committee, and executive management.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and execute a risk-based audit plan to evaluate and improve risk management, controls, and governance processes.
  2. Conduct audits and reviews of activities to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
  3. Evaluate risk management and internal controls to identify areas for improvement.
  4. Provide consulting services to business units to enhance their risk management and internal control processes.
  5. Communicate audit findings and ensure action plans are implemented to address any issues identified.
  6. Monitor implementation of action plans and report to the audit committee on audit activities and findings.
  7. Coordinate with external auditors and other assurance providers to ensure a comprehensive audit process.
  8. Lead the internal audit team to achieve our audit objectives and provide guidance on risk management and internal control best practices.
Requirements:
  • CA(SA) or Certified Internal Auditor (SA) certification is non-negotiable.
  • IT Risk and audit certification, risk management certification, and risk modelling are desirable.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced knowledge of internal auditing standards and ethics.
  • Knowledge of IFRS and statutory environment of an insurance company is desirable.
  • Knowledge of King IV and governance principles.
  • Understanding of IT risk and data management frameworks.
Skills:
  • Hands-on management of a lean internal audit team is non-negotiable.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Professionalism, empathy, and strong communication skills.
  • Advanced MS Office skills, especially Excel.
  • Adaptability and flexibility.
  • Willingness to travel within South Africa at least twice a year.
Experience:
  • 3-5 years in audit, with at least 3 years in internal audit.
  • Experience in leading/managing an internal audit team.
  • Broad audit experience, including operations and financial audits.
  • Experience in IT audit and insurance company audit is desirable.
