Duties and Responsibilities Manager

At Merand Corbett & Associates, we are seeking an experienced Accommodation Manager to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our hotel reception and front desk.
Job Description:
- Greet and assist guests with check-in/check-out processes, providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere that sets the tone for their stay
- Manage reservations and guest inquiries efficiently, ensuring seamless communication and prompt resolutions to any issues that may arise
- Offer expert advice on hotel services and local attractions, showcasing your in-depth knowledge of Stellenbosch and its surroundings
- Promptly address guest needs and complaints, demonstrating exceptional customer service skills and a commitment to resolving issues quickly and fairly
- Oversee the housekeeping and maintenance teams, ensuring that all areas of the hotel meet the highest standards of cleanliness and hospitality
- Manage guest records and billing accurately, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to strict data protection protocols
- Collaborate closely with other departments to guarantee a seamless experience for our guests, fostering a culture of teamwork and cooperation
- Supervise and train staff, including scheduling, to ensure that all employees have the skills and resources needed to excel in their roles
- Maintain high standards of hospitality and cleanliness throughout the hotel, consistently exceeding guest expectations and driving business growth
- Assist with restaurant service and event coordination, leveraging your excellent communication and organisational skills to deliver exceptional results
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience in hotel reception or front desk, with a proven track record of success in similar roles
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to multitask and work under pressure
- Proficiency with hotel management software, including Semper, Night Bridge, Pastel, and MS Office
- Leadership experience and the ability to manage a team effectively, motivating and developing staff to achieve their full potential
- Flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, with a willingness to go above and beyond to meet the needs of our guests
- Fluent in English (additional languages a plus), with strong knowledge of Stellenbosch and surrounding areas
- Own transport and good health, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a positive attitude under pressure
- Experience in restaurant front-of-house, payroll, and accounting is a plus, but not essential
Estimated Salary: R 250,000 - R 300,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications
