In this role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients in a General Theatre setting.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Financial Management:
  • Accurately charge patients based on theatre clocking time
  • Manage and control consignment stock, equipment, and prosthesis according to policy
  • Participate in regular stock taking to ensure effective inventory management
Theatre Equipment and Instrumentation:
  • Educate and supervise staff on correct utilization of theatre equipment and instrumentation
Quality Patient Care:
  • Collect necessary patient information before surgery and conduct post-operative visits
  • Ensure patient comfort and assist doctors during surgical procedures
People Management:
  • Develop and implement theatre-specific training programs
  • Assist Unit Manager to monitor staff workload and efficiency
  • Ensure the theatre team operates within their scope of practice
  • Provide constructive feedback to enhance team performance
SHEQ Management:
  • Utilize personal protective equipment and adhere to ISO standards
  • Properly dispose of medical waste to prevent infection
Internal/External Stakeholder Relationships:
  • Engage in regular meetings to foster positive relationships with internal stakeholders
  • Maintain open communication channels with external stakeholders and escalate unresolved issues to the Unit Manager
Qualifications and Experience
  • Grade 12 National Senior Certificate
  • General Nursing Degree/Diploma
  • Registration with SANC
  • Relevant experience in General Theatre
  • Knowledge of the private healthcare industry and its challenges would be beneficial
  • Proficiency in computer systems would be advantageous
