Job Description

OUTsurance is seeking a skilled and seasoned Traditional Media Planner to join our Marketing department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for planning, strategizing, and compiling in-depth reporting to identify analytical trends and make recommendations.

You will work in a stimulating, exciting, innovative, and fast-paced environment, where you will have the opportunity to improve current placement strategies and processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the OOH, Print, and TV Media Portfolio: Oversee the development and implementation of media plans for various products.
  • Build Relationships with Media Owners: Foster strong relationships with media owners to negotiate optimal rates and ensure seamless execution.
  • TV Bookings on Telmar: Utilize Telmar's booking system to manage and execute TV media plans.
  • Evaluate ATL Media and Sponsorship Proposals: Analyze and evaluate proposals to ensure alignment with OUTsurance's marketing objectives.
  • Daily Analysis of Marketing Performance Data: Conduct daily analysis of marketing performance data to inform media planning decisions.
  • Reporting and Budget Management: Develop and manage daily, weekly, and monthly reports, as well as oversee allocated advertising budgets.
  • Work with Nielsen Data: Utilize Nielsen data to build Share of Voice graphs and reports for the business.
  • Competitor Analysis: Compile competitor behavior and media spend reports to inform media planning decisions.
  • Ad-Hoc Analysis: Conduct ad-hoc analysis of media spend, spots, and performance as requested by the business.
  • Support the Creative Team: Assist in writing short, creative briefs for the creative team.
  • Flighting Codes and Lead Tracking: Create flighting codes for production and track lead generation across various media channels.
  • Invoice Management: Review and sign off on ATL invoices.
  • Media Placement Strategy: Develop and implement media placement strategies to drive lead generation.
Requirements:
  • Matriculation: A matric certificate is required.
  • Marketing Qualifications: A completed marketing diploma or bachelor's degree is essential.
  • Statistics and Mathematics: A strong understanding of statistics and mathematics is beneficial.
  • Advanced Excel Skills: Proficiency in advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and intricate formulas, is a must.
Experience:
  • Media Planning Experience: A minimum of 3 years' experience in media planning is required.
  • Telmar and Nielsen Experience: Experience working with Telmar and Nielsen is advantageous.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Media Industry Knowledge: A solid understanding of the media industry is essential.
  • Direct Response Advertising: A good understanding of direct response advertising is required.
  • Competitor Analysis: A good knowledge of direct competitors and their strategies is beneficial.
  • Self-Motivation and Ownership: A self-starter with a strong sense of ownership and accountability is essential.
  • Numerical Skills: Very strong numerical skills, with a passion for working with numbers, are required.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with the marketing team and media partners, are essential.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills, with the ability to make well-informed decisions and recommendations, are required.
  • Media Booking and Scheduling: A good understanding of Telmar and media bookings and scheduling is beneficial.
  • Nielsen Skills: Strong skills working with Nielsen data are essential.
  • Organizational and Administrative Skills: Strong organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines, are required.
  • Media Relationships: Excellent existing relationships with media partners are essential.
  • Teamwork and Collaboration: The ability to work individually and as part of a cohesive team is required.
