Reports To: Principal or Assistant Principal

Purpose of Role:

SPARK Schools Foundation Phase Mathematics educators drive student success by upholding high expectations for classroom culture, behavior, and academic growth for every student.

Foundation Phase Mathematics educators at SPARK Schools are specialists who receive ongoing professional development tailored to their prior experience and individual needs.

These educators play a crucial role in fostering SPARK Schools' culture and our commitment to delivering rigorous, engaging learning experiences for our scholars.

Responsibilities:

● Prepare and deliver lessons to students effectively.

● Provide instruction across various subjects, engaging students with well-structured lesson plans and resources.

● Collaborate with grade-level and subject area colleagues to develop challenging, engaging learning experiences and create individualized behavior and learning plans for all students, whether in-person or online.

● Facilitate weekly Social Emotional Learning (SEL) circles and implement the SPARK Schools SEL curriculum.

● Utilize SPARK culture and apply behavior management strategies.

● Conduct weekly and termly assessments to monitor student progress and analyze data for growth.

● Focus on student achievement, driving all scholars to meet the required proficiency standards.

● Submit student performance data as required.

● Participate in pre-service professional development before the academic year commences and attend weekly professional development sessions and other training opportunities.

● Communicate professionally and effectively with colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders.

● Maintain professionalism at all SPARK Schools events and towards all stakeholders.

● Cultivate a high-achieving work environment where all students feel valued and supported.

● Attend community events and parent meetings.

● Implement strategies provided by the Crisis Management team.

● Adhere to child protection, anti-bullying, and health and safety policies.

● Promote the vision and mission of SPARK Schools to staff, scholars, families, and the broader community.

Requirements

Qualifications and Criteria:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

● B.Ed. degree or H.Dip.Ed. or PGCE in Foundation Phase. Recently qualified educators are encouraged to apply.

● Certification from the South African Council of Educators (SACE).

● SAQA accreditation for non-South African equivalent qualifications.

● Proficiency in the English language.

● A clear criminal record.

Experience:

● Recently qualified educators or those with experience are encouraged to apply.
