We are seeking an experienced Warehouse Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day activities of our warehouse team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth flow of goods in and out of our warehouse, maintaining high standards of quality and safety, and driving efficiency and productivity.

**About Us:**

Starke Ayres is a leading supplier of premium seed varieties, serving both commercial and home garden planting markets. Our company values innovation, sustainability, and customer satisfaction, and we are committed to delivering exceptional service to our customers.

**Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise shipping process execution and documentation, including local, import, and export shipments;
  • Select the most suitable shipping methods (truck, rail, ocean, etc.) for distributing seed, engineering project items, agricultural implements, research supplies, and promotional items;
  • Confirm loading and equipment needs and provide weekly progress feedback on planned deliveries from procurements, field productions, and customers/deposits;
  • Ensure deliveries to Depots are planned and executed according to orders and instructions on SageX3;
  • Prepare and plan space for new seed production, procured, and finished goods inventory;
  • Monitor workflow and identify alternatives to manage volume and time requirements and meet sales/packing/seed processing/distribution site needs;
  • Regularly monitor receiving and packing schedules to meet deadlines;
  • Sampling of seed lots according to ISTA rules;
  • C coordinate day-to-day activities of staff within the warehouse to ensure goods are properly moved, handled, and stored safely in compliance with legislative requirements and company policies and procedures;
  • Ensure regular inspections and maintenance are done on vehicles, forklifts, cold-rooms, and buildings;
  • Ensure quality of seed and products in the warehouse by maintaining optimal warehouse conditions, such as cleanliness, tidiness, and adequate pest management;
  • Ensure daily cold-room inspections are carried out and report deviations from prescribed temperature and humidity to Quality Assurance Manager;
  • Apply, monitor, and implement all OHSA measures in respect of the warehouses, cold-rooms, and vehicles;
  • Monitor and ensure that seed lots prioritized for immediate sales due to age and/or quality of seed are executed accordingly – FIFO;
  • Coordinate and participate in bi-annual stock takes;
  • Control monthly expenses;
  • Implement operational policies and procedures in the warehouse environment;

**Requirements:**

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A Grade 12 qualification (Essential)
  • Tertiary degree or Diploma in Production and Supply Chain or similar (preferential)
  • At least 3 years' experience as a store planner and 5 years' experience as a warehouse supervisor
