Senior Contract Manager

To oversee the effective management of commercial sites, ensuring staff, equipment, client liaison, and financial performance are all under control. Provide guidance and training to less experienced Contract Managers on site requirements, process flow, internal systems, and staff development. Assist in acting as Operations Manager as needed.
ResponsibilitiesOperational Management- Support Contract Managers with new site start-ups
- Collaborate with Operations Manager on financial budgets for all sites
- Assist with procurement, maintenance, and utilization of equipment
- Implement and maintain client service level agreements
- Develop strategic plans to improve efficiency and profitability
- Manage financial implications of stock, consumables, and material procurement
- Oversee site cleanliness, productivity, and operational activity with Contract Managers
- Review and approve KPI reports for Contract Managers
- Verify site inspection reports to ensure completion
- Confirm ad-hoc billing to ensure timely client invoicing
- Use manifests to book collections
- Resolve daily issues with Regional Transport Manager and escalate to Operations Manager if needed
- Communicate with service providers and escalate issues to Operations Manager if needed
- Strategically manage client relationships to ensure satisfaction
- Address problems immediately and attend to client proposals
- Visit sites regularly to manage and improve progress, productivity, efficiency, and profitability
- Meet with clients monthly to address issues and provide feedback
- Provide written communication on client relationships to Operations Manager
- Complete inductions and training for staff according to company policy
- Train newly appointed Contract Managers
- Responsible for staff appointments to comply with SLA
- Manage resignations according to company rules
- Manage appointments, working permits, and asylum documents for foreigners
- Manage absenteeism daily and inform Operations Manager
- Train and develop staff for maximum productivity and profit
- Address staff grievances according to company policy
- Execute disciplinary actions according to company policies
- Produce weekly reports on working hours, absenteeism, and leave
- Conduct monthly meetings with Contract Managers
- Ensure Contract Managers conduct site inspections weekly
- Follow up with Contract Managers on data-related issues
- Conduct KPI checks with Contract Managers
- Daily reports on absenteeism, problems, relieve staff, IODs, damages, non-collections, and complaints
- Weekly reports on site visits, staff leave, IODs, and operational feedback
- Monthly reports on site inspections, KPI reports, appointments and resignations, commercial asset register, month-end payroll, and industrial relations
- Provide information to data department for new accounts and company verification
- Scan and upload client and employee documentation on Insync
- Ensure staff have correct PPE according to company policy and site requirements
- Train staff on SHEQ regulations, policies, and procedures per site
- Update and maintain each site's SHEQ file
- Train staff on sites with dangerous equipment, goods, and products
- Manage incidents and accidents according to company policy
- Ensure all sites comply with company and client SHEQ policies
- Uphold company SHEQ initiatives
- Minimum grade 12/matric, tertiary qualification an advantage
- Experience in waste management or recycling industry
- Valid driver's license
- Mid-level management skills
- 7 years working experience
- Computer literate
