Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Accountant to join our team at Communicate Recruitment. As a key member of our finance department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all general ledger transactions for assigned entities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and review bank reconciliations prepared by bookkeepers
  • Prepare month-end financial reports and balance sheet reconciliations for review by the Senior Financial Accountant
  • Process accurate journal entries and perform monthly reconciliations with third-party pay-in and pay-out partners
  • Collect and analyze financial data to maintain accurate and up-to-date records of sales revenue, liabilities, and key performance indicators
  • Prepare and submit statutory and regulatory returns in line with required deadlines
  • Support the Group Tax team with accurate and timely tax submissions, ensuring full compliance with tax regulations
  • Assist in year-end audit processes and prepare draft statutory financial statements for review
  • Contribute to business improvement initiatives, including system implementations and process optimizations
  • Work closely with senior managers, finance teams, auditors, tax professionals, and other stakeholders to align financial strategies with business goals
  • Provide internal support to other departments to resolve financial and commercial issues

Requirements:

  • Proven work experience as a Financial Accountant or completed articles
  • Minimum of 2-3 years experience is highly preferable
  • Experience with multi-national group structures, preferably across Africa and/or the UK
  • Finance business systems experience across ERP platforms, preferably NetSuite
  • Experience in preparing VAT and Corporate tax returns in conjunction with the internal Tax function
  • Experience working in financial services or highly regulated industries
  • Experience in high growth/fast-moving organizations
  • Advanced time management and organizational skills (Essential)
  • Strong understanding of financial principles and concepts
  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office (especially MS Excel)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or Advanced Diploma in Accounting, or a related field (essential)
  • Currently studying towards CA (SA), CIMA, or SAIPA qualification (preferably)
