Job Title: Senior FIT Travel Consultant

Our client, a renowned Destination Management Company, is seeking a highly skilled Senior FIT Travel Consultant to join their team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for designing and preparing travel itineraries in Southern Africa for FIT clients, ensuring that each programme meets the client's brief, budget, and capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and prepare travel itineraries for FIT clients in Southern Africa
  • Develop and cost leisure travel programmes within the company's destination portfolio
  • Ensure that all processes, including client brief, itinerary design, booking, implementation, accounting, and client communication, are in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Correspond with clients via email and phone to discuss programmes and address any questions or concerns
  • Encourage clients to send enquiries to enable the opportunity to quote a suitable programme, increasing tourism in Southern Africa
  • Make all bookings, plan, and implement travel programmes upon confirmation
  • Invoice clients for travel programmes
  • Contract suppliers and liaise with them during the planning stages and implementation of itineraries
  • Manage workload efficiently, prioritizing key clients and urgent requests
  • Prepare daily to-do lists and send them to the Team Leader and Director with relevant comments by the end of each day
  • Implement and maintain Smart quoting
  • Attend daily standup meetings
  • Practice clear, concise, and effective communication with clients, management, and team members
  • Find solutions and take immediate action on any issues, client complaints, or staff requirements, keeping the Team Leader informed in a structured and timely manner
Requirements:
  • Diploma or degree in Tourism, Hotel Management, or Events Management
  • At least 5 years of working experience within the travel industry or similar environment
  • Extensive travel and tourism knowledge of Southern African destinations, including South Africa, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique
  • Working knowledge of the leisure travel industry
  • Advanced knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and a proven track record of using these tools
  • Knowledge of travel writing programmes, such as WETU and Travelogic, is an advantage
  • Experience in planning and implementing FIT travel programmes
Work Environment:

This is a full-time position with a hybrid work arrangement. The successful candidate will be required to work from the office and remotely, as needed.
