Environmental Engineer | Consulting Manager (Nature Based Solutions)

Our client, a global strategic management consulting firm, is seeking to recruit an Environmental Engineer within their dynamic Climate, Natural Resources, and Infrastructure team.

This role involves applying engineering knowledge in a strategic manner to influence the planning and design of green and grey infrastructure solutions. If you have a strong desire to contribute to building climate resilience into infrastructure design, this role is for you.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the planning and implementation of Nature Based Solutions and/or other environmental engineering-related projects. You will also manage and/or be involved in the delivery of multiple projects simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialist services to guide the planning and development of Nature Based Solutions in the context of water resource, climate, and natural resource-based projects.
  • Undertake research and develop reports associated with technical studies and investment plans.
  • Work closely with the CNRI lead to build capabilities and unlock opportunities in the planning and implementation of pre-feasibility and feasibility-level studies related to green and grey infrastructure development.
  • Prepare technical and financial proposals in response to Request for Proposals received from various clients.
  • Present findings to clients, partners, and senior decision-makers in government, development finance, and the private sector with confidence.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • An undergraduate and master's degree in engineering. An Environmental Engineering degree or similar is preferred.
  • 7 to 10 years of experience in consultancy, development finance, or a relevant corporate setting.
  • Experience in managing and delivering consulting assignments in relevant fields and comfort with client and contract management.
  • Experience in the planning and design of Nature Based Solutions.
  • Comfortable with undertaking and guiding junior colleagues.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in Africa and other frontier markets.
  • Foreign language proficiency in French or Portuguese.

  • An ability to apply engineering experience and background in a strategic manner.
  • Knowledge of Nature Based Solutions and their role in providing climate resilience to different infrastructure types.
  • Ability to provide design services related to Nature Based Solutions and other infrastructure developments (green and grey infrastructure).
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and deliver analytical tasks at a high quality.
  • An energetic problem-solver, open-minded with multi-perspective views on international development, natural resource management, infrastructure delivery, governance systems, and policies.
  • Clear commercial acumen and project management capabilities, including project budgeting.
  • Ability to work as part of a diverse team across different geographies.
  • A team player who is productive working in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment.
  • Desire to contribute towards sustainable infrastructure development and make an impact in the lives of communities across the globe.
