Operations Manager Job Description

At RTT, we are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join our team in Cape Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing our operations, ensuring efficient and cost-effective functionality, and driving sustained profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Route Planning: Plan and optimize routes to minimize delivery times and costs.
  • Vehicle Allocation and Utilization: Manage vehicle allocation and utilization to maximize efficiency.
  • SLA/Service Level Management: Monitor and control service levels to ensure high-quality delivery experiences.
  • Vehicle Departure Time Management: Manage vehicle departure times to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Late Delivery Management: Identify and manage late deliveries to minimize impact on customers.
  • Cage Exception Report Management: Manage and resolve cage exception reports in a timely manner.
  • Delivery Due Date Management: Manage delivery due dates to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Managing SOPs: Develop, implement, and manage Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for drivers and other staff members.
  • Managing Trans-Shipments: Manage trans-shipments to ensure smooth delivery of goods.
  • Managing and Training Staff: Manage and train loading checkers and supervisors to ensure efficient operations.
  • Outstanding POD Management: Manage outstanding PODs to ensure accurate and timely delivery documentation.
  • POD Quality Management: Ensure high-quality PODs are produced and delivered to customers.
  • Managing Returns: Manage returns to ensure efficient processing and resolution.
  • Loaded Not Assigned/Assigned Not Loaded Management: Manage loaded-not-assigned and assigned-not-loaded situations to minimize delays.
  • Endorse POD Management: Manage endorse PODs to ensure accurate and timely delivery documentation.
  • Manage and Control of Staff: Manage and control staff to ensure efficient operations and high-quality delivery experiences.
  • Dealing with Queries: Deal with daily queries via telephone or email to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Liaising with Branches: Liaise and coordinate with all branches to ensure smooth operations.
  • Handling HR: Handle all aspects of HR pertaining to the department.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 Senior Certificate (Matric): Minimum qualification required.
  • 3-Year Degree/Diploma: Advantageous for advanced operations management.
  • Minimum 10 Years' Experience: Supervising/managing operations experience required.
  • Operational Systems Knowledge: Must have experience and knowledge in managing operational systems.
  • Flexibility: Must be willing to work night shift, weekends, and Public Holidays.
  • Leadership Skills: Must have managerial/leadership skills to manage and control staff.
