Community Health Coordinator

Nelson Mandela University is committed to excellence in education and research. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Community Health Coordinator.
Job Summary:
The Community Health Coordinator will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with community healthcare stakeholders, including households, community mentors, and clinic staff. The successful candidate will work in a team environment to establish and coordinate clinical and community placements of medical students, ensuring seamless logistics and transport arrangements. Additionally, the Coordinator will be involved in the learning and teaching of medical students in relevant modules on the community platform.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain the community healthcare platforms affiliated to the medical school.
- Manage and coordinate clinical and community placements of medical students in the modules 'Theory and Practice of Medicine' and 'Clinical Skills and Reasoning'.
- Assist with learning and teaching of students in Comprehensive Primary Health Care, Public Health, Communication skills, and Clinical skills in the Medical School Program, inclusive of campus and community settings.
- Assess students, including formative and summative assessment.
- Provide timely academic and related support to students.
- Be involved in research activities of the Medical School of the Faculty of Health Sciences.
Requirements:
- Relevant M+5 qualification.
- Post-graduate degree/diploma in Nursing Education.
- Registered with SANC as a Professional Nurse.
- Registered with SANC as a Nurse Educator.
- At least 5 years' clinical experience in Primary or Public Healthcare Nursing.
- One to three years' teaching or related work experience.
- Code 8 driver's license.
- Proficiency in the three official languages of the Eastern Cape.
