About the Role

This exciting career opportunity is available at the Sanlam Group's Corporate Services in the Financial Management department. The role is part of the financial management function of the Sanlam group, with a significant focus on general ledger accounting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support key activities such as month-end, account reconciliations, implementing and monitoring internal financial controls, and supporting both internal and external audits.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives within the general ledger process area and proactively seek opportunities to improve service delivery to business stakeholders.
  • Ensure the integrity of the general ledger with the aim of enabling the provisioning of accurate and up-to-date financial reporting.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualification e.g. B Com Accounting or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years' of working experience in a financial accounting environment is required.
  • CIMA or equivalent qualification would be advantageous.
  • Experience in the insurance industry would be advantageous.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Good knowledge of IFRS (knowledge of insurance accounting would be advantageous).
  • Insurance Act, Companies Act
  • Computer literate (Advanced Excel)
  • JDE knowledge is advantageous or any other large general ledger system such as SAP or Oracle
  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills
  • Pro-active, results-oriented, and deadline driven
