Maintenance Mechanic

Job Title: Maintenance Fitter Turner

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Fitter & Turner to join our team in Amanzimtoti. The ideal candidate will have three to five years of experience in plant maintenance in a FMCG/manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement continuous improvement projects to enhance production efficiency
• Monitor and optimize OEE and related production efficiency KPIs
• Reduce Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) & Mean Time To Repair (MTTR) KPI metrics
• Develop and maintain scheduled maintenance plans, general maintenance tasks, and breakdowns
• Apply preventative maintenance concepts and programmes
• Set maintenance standards and ensure efficient and effective maintenance practices
• Ensure equipment is running at optimal settings
• Collaborate with the safety officer to develop and maintain safety standards
• Support the maintenance team in continuous improvement and growth
• Utilize workshop equipment to make up equipment and spares as needed
• Interact with suppliers for equipment, spares, and outsourced contract work

Requirements:

• Grade 12 (with a pass in Mathematics)
• Trade tested Fitter & Turner/Millwright or similar
• Three to five years post-trade test experience in a FMCG/manufacturing environment
• Three to five years experience with pumps, mixing vessels, boilers, filling machines, and labelling machines
• Valid driver's license and own transport
• Report writing and presentation skills
• Able to facilitate meetings and undertake responsibility for area of operation
• H&S knowledge and Quality awareness
• GMP environment experience advantageous
• Computer literate and effective communication skills
• Positive dynamic attitude and continuous improvement mindset
• Fault analysis and diagnostic skills
• Able to train and pass on knowledge to team members
• Willingness to work overtime and night shifts on a rotational basis
