Job Description

This role focuses on supporting the Divisional Executive in overseeing the performance of portfolio companies. The position involves collaborating closely with Portfolio Management and Monitoring Teams, portfolio companies, and potential strategic partners to facilitate the successful implementation of in-portfolio transactions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Transaction Evaluation: Assess the desirability of deals by generating innovative ideas, evaluating financial positions, and determining capital requirements.
  • Transaction Structuring: Develop recommendations for financial instruments, negotiate transaction terms, and ensure sound governance for operational and balance sheet restructures.
  • Transaction Execution: Assist in leading the transaction process from start to finish, including drafting term sheets, managing legal documentation, and closing operational and balance sheet restructure plans.
  • Portfolio Management: Proactively conduct portfolio reviews, drive value creation, and monitor performance in portfolio companies.

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of finance, business strategy, and industry-specific knowledge. Relevant qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or a relevant commercial or technical honours degree from a reputable institution. A relevant Post Graduate qualification such as CA (SA) / MBA or equivalent would be an advantage.

Key requirements include:

  • 8-10 years of experience in Investment Banking, Private Equity, Corporate Finance, and Corporate Strategy Consulting.
  • Proven track record in deal sourcing, structuring, and execution, with maturity experience at senior leadership and management levels.
  • Sound knowledge and experience in developing and implementing turnaround strategies and plans.
  • Good understanding of different types of security for financial investments.
  • Working knowledge of Company, Contract, Taxation, and Insolvency legislation.
  • Strong communication and networking skills.
