Job Overview

Exxaro Resources is seeking a skilled and experienced Learning and Development Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for delivering functional training at a Business Unit level by facilitating delivery of training outputs towards supporting training compliance, departmental functions, learning managers, heads, facilitators, and consultant officers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate learners on/off the job training
  • Update all information as and when required based on training completed
  • Update, coordinate, and maintain/revise/give input in learning content for Business Unit (BU)
  • Schedule induction and skills programmes
  • Conduct functional audits and quality checks on documentation
  • Prepare and complete reports and minutes and analysis
  • File documentation for audit purpose

Budget and Cost Control:

  • Recommend and incorporate cost-saving initiatives into budgets and control expenditure within approved parameters
  • Keep operating cost within budget parameters

Compliance, Governance, and Assurance:

  • Adhere to legal requirements and comply with company-specific policies and procedures
  • Address discrepancies or unlawful practices and report to Manager
  • Adhere to Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) standards and guidelines
  • Ensure adherence to and report on People and Performance (P&P) Development commitments in Social and Labour Plan (SLP), Workplace Skills Planning (WSP)/Annual Training Report (ATR) and Mining Charter for BU
  • Ensure compliance with and alignment to relevant legislation, standards, and company policies
  • Execute necessary measures to ensure competence training provided is aligned with National Qualifications Framework (NQF), South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA), MQA standards, company policies, procedures, as well as relevant legislation
  • Ensure Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality (SHEQ) standards are maintained within training team (Mine International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) 9002 ISO 14001 Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Specification (OSHAS) 18000)

Customer, Stakeholder, and Client Relationship Management:

  • Maintain trusted partnerships between Training Officers, Line Management, contractor supervisors, and other services departments
  • Adhere to service level agreements to ensure customer satisfaction

Database Management:

  • Register, capture, update, control, and maintain data and other related systems requirements
  • Provide information, conduct required analysis, and research when required for accurate correspondence

Internal Business Processes:

  • Support departmental team
  • Attend to stock and invoices where applicable
  • Conduct induction programmes and skills programmes
  • Conduct practical training and assessment
  • Register, capture, update, control, and maintain data and other related systems required to enhance departmental operations
  • Make information available; conduct required analysis to ensure accuracy of correspondence
  • Develop training material, present training courses, facilitate training interventions, assessments, and competency declaration of learners
  • Offer support, mentoring, coaching, guidance to learners and continuously follow up on their progress
  • Identify all training requirements schedule courses book attendees on appropriate training
  • File documentation for audit purposes

Safe and Healthy Work Environment:

  • Maintain and ensure a healthy environment, safe operations practices, ensuring compliance with all applicable Safety Health and Environmental (SHE) policies procedures in line with set standards
  • Encourage a culture that focuses on safety in all operations

Training and Development:

  • Manage and conduct technical training to learners
  • Develop training material, present training courses, facilitation of training interventions, assessments, and competency declaration of learners in different disciplines
  • Request and analyse reports as required and submit to the relevant governance forums
  • Identify all technical training requirements, schedule courses, and book attendees on the appropriate training
  • Offer support, mentoring, and guidance to learners and continuously follow up on their progress

Estimated Salary: R600,000 - R800,000 per annum

  • Competence: SAP Position Specific Module (Essential/Minimum)
  • Competence: MS Office Relevant Package (Essential/Minimum)

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12/Standard 10 Technical (Essential/Minimum)
  • N3: Technical (Essential/Minimum)
  • Certificate in ETDP level 4 (Essential/Minimum)
  • Certificate of Competence: Assessor (Essential/Minimum)
  • Certificate of Competence: Moderator (Essential/Minimum)
  • Trade: Artisan (Relevant) MQA/QCTO Accred (Essential/Minimum or)
  • Certificate Blasting For Fiery Mines (Essential/Minimum or)
  • N Cert: Rockbreaking Surface Excavations (Essential/Minimum)
  • Certificate: Basic Management Program (Essential/Minimum)

Experience:

  • 3 years Relevant training and development experience and skills to act as subject matter expert in required technical training (Essential/Minimum)
