Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Legal Secretary to support our litigation team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for drafting and formatting legal documents, proofreading for accuracy, and compiling case files.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drafting and formatting legal documents, including pleadings, affidavits, briefs, and discovery requests
  • Proofreading documents for accuracy and compliance with legal formatting standards
  • Compiling and organizing case files, including maintaining detailed records and indexing
  • Opening new case files, recording relevant details, and updating case management systems
  • Tracking deadlines, court dates, and important milestones in litigation cases

Scheduling and Communication:

  • Scheduling court appearances, depositions, client meetings, and conferences
  • Communicating with clients to provide updates on case progress and gather necessary information
  • Contacting opposing counsel and other parties to coordinate legal matters

Administrative Tasks:

  • Performing general office duties to support legal staff
  • Maintaining accurate records and filing systems
  • Assisting with the preparation of legal documents and correspondence

Requirements:

  • Proficient typing and computer skills
  • Microsoft Office
  • Organizational skills
  • Clear and professional verbal and written communication with clients, attorneys, and opposing counsel (English)
  • Basic understanding of legal terminology, procedures, and court rules
