Job Title: Shipping Manager

Hire Resolve is seeking a highly skilled Shipping Manager to join our client's dynamic team in Cape Town. As a key member of the logistics sector, this role will play a pivotal part in coordinating the flow of goods internationally, ensuring timely and compliant shipments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Liaise with international suppliers and vendors to optimize shipment schedules and routes.
  • Develop and implement efficient transportation methods to reduce costs and improve supply chain efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with customs regulations, trade laws, and international standards through accurate documentation and negotiation with shipping carriers.
  • Oversee the preparation and accuracy of import documentation, including bills of lading, invoices, and customs declarations.
  • Negotiate rates and contracts with shipping carriers, freight forwarders, and other logistics providers to secure the best possible deals.
  • Monitor and track the status of inbound shipments to ensure on-time delivery and address any delays or issues.
  • Update the ERP system with shipment status, Purchase Orders, Shipping Records, and payment dates to maintain accurate records.
  • Maintain strong relationships with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and other key stakeholders to ensure seamless logistics operations.
  • Address and resolve issues related to shipment delays, damages, or compliance violations in a timely and professional manner.
  • Analyze import costs and implement strategies to reduce expenses and improve cost efficiency.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date records of all import transactions, shipments, and related activities.
  • Develop and enforce shipping policies and procedures to streamline import operations and improve efficiency.
  • Collaborate with procurement, sales, production, and other departments to align import activities with company goals and objectives.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with international shipping, such as geopolitical issues, currency fluctuations, and supply chain disruptions.
  • Continuously assess and improve import processes to enhance efficiency, reliability, and performance.
Requirements:
  • Tertiary education in Supply Chain, Logistics, or International Business.
  • Over 5 years of experience in shipping, logistics, or supply chain management.
  • Proven expertise in managing import transactions and international shipping.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills required.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and shipment tracking systems.
  • In-depth understanding of customs regulations and international trade compliance.
  • Fluent in English; Afrikaans is beneficial.
  • Willingness to stay updated on global shipping and trade regulations.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills required.
