Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Operations Specialist to join our team at Sanlam Corporate Investments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial reporting: Work closely with the finance department and Head of Operations to ensure accurate and timely financial information is provided to management on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Collaborate with the Risk, Legal, Internal Audit, Governance, and Compliance departments to ensure best practice compliance monitoring and reporting, regulatory requirements, and quality standards are met.
  • Support the Head of Operations in acting as an intermediary between the business and other stakeholders on engagements such as vendor management, outsourcing agreements, corporate finance, risk, and compliance matters, investment cluster operations, internal audit engagements, and facilities.
  • Facilitate information gathering for projects and requests from the Group Office.
  • Operational Process: Assist the Head of Operations in identifying gaps, designing, and ensuring optimal operational processes and controls to guarantee delivery in line with SLAs.
  • Operations management: Provide support to the operations area regarding new business implementation, client policies, and investment operations.
  • Work closely with the Pensioner administration team on pensioner onboarding and monthly valuation.
  • Assist in budget preparation and monitoring, as well as managing expenses.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and operational excellence throughout the business.
  • Evaluate existing processes, systems, and workflows to identify opportunities for improvement and optimization.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • BCom Accounting Honours (a postgraduate business or investment qualification would be beneficial).
  • CA (SA) required.
  • 1-3 years of working experience, preferably in retirement fund or investment administration.
  • Experience working with IFRS 17 is advantageous.
  • Strong commercial acumen.
  • Proven experience in asset management and insurance.
Competencies:

You will be expected to possess:

  • Sound knowledge of retirement funds and/or investments.
  • A working knowledge of operational processes.
About Us:

Sanlam Corporate Investments develops, implements, and manages all investment and annuity products offered to institutional clients such as retirement funds, corporate, or public sector entities. The investment product set covers Smooth Bonus products, single and multi-managed active portfolios, passive portfolios, liability-driven investment strategies, and tailored investment solutions.

The estimated salary for this position is R600,000 - R800,000 per annum, depending on experience.
