Tax and Corporate Actions Professional

A highly respected investment management team is seeking a skilled Tax & Corporate Actions Assistant Manager to join their operations team.
The ideal candidate will be CA(SA) qualified with relevant tax and corporate actions experience within financial services. A great working environment awaits
Responsibilities:
- Review client tax liabilities for completeness and accuracy
- Ensure compliance with tax reporting, filing, and related requirements
- Guarantee accurate and timely tax submissions
- Analyse tax calculations done by external service providers for institutional clients (Capital Gains Tax, Interest Withholding Tax, Capital Gains Tax, and Dividend Withholding Tax)
- Evaluate assessments of Funds in-country tax exposure
- Register institutional funds correctly for tax purposes and liaise with in-country tax authorities and specialists
- Review Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) and Common Reporting Standard (CRS) submissions for applicable clients
- Assess client and portfolio tax implications of all/complex corporate events
- Review tax implications and tax reporting related to CIS income distributions and classifications
- Stay informed about changes to local and foreign tax legislation and take necessary action
- Manage all institutional tax projects and/or system changes pertaining to tax
- Identify and assess the impact of corporate actions on portfolio holdings and valuations
- Understand and ensure tax and accounting impact of all corporate actions are accurately recorded
- Manage proxy voting and elective events, and sign off instructions to custodians
- Manage the Tax Reclaims process
- Ensure clean audit on the ISAE tax controls
- Identify areas for improvement in current processes
- Review existing processes, validations, and reports to ensure efficiency
- Built effective stakeholder relationships, internally and externally
- Represent the company at industry-related tax committees
- Coordinate and drive corporate action and operational tax initiatives, projects, and testing within the team
Requirements:
- Minimum of CA(SA) or an Honours in Tax or equivalent qualification
- Minimum of 5 years' relevant tax, corporate actions, or accounting experience in Financial Services
- Proficient in Microsoft packages
- Highly numerate and a critical thinker
- Excellent attention to detail, disciplined, and methodical
- Strong leadership skills, self-starter able to create efficient processes and controls
- Interpersonal and communication skills, build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders
- Good time management skills, able to manage heavy workloads and multiple tasks, work flexible hours if needed
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Salary: Estimated R600,000 - R800,000 per annum.
