About the Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Training Specialist who has strong clinical leadership expertise and excellent facilitation and assessment skills. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in training and developing clinical staff, and will be able to provide coaching and mentoring to staff to ensure clinical competence.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Training Program Coordination: Coordinate and deliver clinical nurse training programs to ensure competent qualified nurses and students.
  • Clinical Coaching and Mentoring: Provide coaching and mentoring to staff to ensure clinical competence.
  • Induction Planning and Presentation: Plan, present and coordinate Macro and Micro Induction of staff.

Risk-Based In-Service Training Programs

  • Program Planning and Monitoring: Plan, co-ordinate and monitor risk-based in-service training programs.
  • Incident Investigation: Participate in incident investigation.
  • Hospital Quality Projects: Participate in hospital quality projects, provide feedback, identify deviations and take remedial action where necessary.
  • Risk Identification and Management: Identify risks and competence in use of products through in-service training.
  • Emergency Care Training: Planning, training and participation in Emergency Care/Mock resuscitations/scenarios.

Student Clinical Programs

  • Student Selection: Participate in the selection process of internal and external students.
  • Student Administration and Resources: Ensure the correct management of student administration and resources.
  • Clinical Skills Development: Identify relevant learning opportunities and facilitate clinical skills development.
  • Student Feedback and Progress: Provide feedback on the progress of the students both to the Learning Centre and HOD.
  • Research Support: Support students with research projects in the hospital environment.
  • Theory and Practice Integration: Assist students with theory and practice integration.
  • Learning Centre Activities: Participate in Learning Centre activities.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Nurse Education Essential: Diploma/Degree in Nursing.
  • Nurse Education Registration: Nurse Education essential or proof of registration in obtaining Diploma/Degree in Nurse Education.
  • Assessor and Moderator Registration: If no Education registration with SANC, then it is essential to be registered as Assessor and Moderator with SANC.
  • Proven Nursing Experience: Proven nursing experience of at least 3 years.
  • Clinical Leadership Expertise: Proven clinical leadership expertise.
  • Legislation Knowledge: Specific knowledge and understanding of the legislation governing the practice of nursing.
  • Nursing Education Systems and Legislation: Knowledge of nursing education systems and legislation.
  • Change Management Principles: Understanding of change management principles.
  • Facilitation and Assessment Skills: Facilitation and assessment skills.
  • Computer Proficiency: Computer proficiency.
  • Driver's License: Driver's license.
