Accountant Position in Cape Town

We are seeking an accomplished Qualified Accountant to join our team at West Coast Personnel in Cape Town. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in accounting, with a keen attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and complete accounting records.
  • File and maintain supplier invoices, bank statements, and other financial documents.
  • Process cashbooks and journals on Pastel to Trial Balance.
  • Perform supplier and customer account processing and reconciliations.
  • Prepare month-end journals and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Calculate VAT and prepare VAT returns.
  • Capture internet banking payments (EFTs) and maintain the fixed asset register, including calculation of depreciation.
  • Capture bank statements and perform bank reconciliations.
  • Liaise with auditors and handle SARS submissions (EMP201, IRP6).
  • Complete other ad hoc tasks and requests as required.

Competencies:

Knowledge:

  • Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting or similar Accounting Degree/Diploma.
  • 3-4 years of working experience in an accounting or audit environment.
  • Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Insurance Industry experience is beneficial.
  • Proficiency in Pastel Partner and Microsoft Excel is essential.

Compensation:

The estimated salary for this position is R350,000 - R450,000 per annum, depending on experience.
