This is a Mid-Senior role at Machine_ Johannesburg within the strategy department and reports to the Head of Strategy.

**Job Description**:
PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A 6 MONTH FIXED TERM CONTRACT

Role Description:
The Data Analyst will be integral to gathering data and contributing to the consumer, category, cultural and brand insights that inform strategy, and also developing the measurement frameworks and reports that demonstrate performance of planned activity. Through gathering, cleaning, analysing, interpreting, and displaying data using different approaches and intelligence tools, the data analyst will be crucial in uncovering key insights that lead to better informed and successful decision-making in strategy and for clients. They will also be responsible for the transformation of raw data into meaningful information.

The role will entail:

- Work with the strategy team to provide social and web data and insight that helps to solve the brand’s communications problems and enhances the brand’s performance.
- Develop and implement data-driven analytics solutions that address client needs.
- Analysing campaign performance effectiveness and providing actionable insights for future planning and campaign development
- Analyze performance of channels and make recommendations as to where to prioritise marketing efforts, creative and effectiveness.
- Creating efficiencies with automation to drive a quick turnaround of reporting.
- Perform deep-dive analyses to answer complex questions and deliver insights on the root causes of issues and make recommendations on how to best monitor and meet them.
- Provide data expertise to core teams as well as cross functional teams.
- Build team knowledge of data and tools, as well as an understanding of the data elements/ correlations we should be looking to ensure ongoing data integrity.
- Develop KPIs for the purpose of identifying trends and evaluating the success of the brand initiatives.
- Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain Databases for reporting purposes.
- Implement Reporting Structures within the Data Function and upskill and support junior staff members.
- Collect, organise, analyse and disseminate significant amount of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Develop dashboards and reports in order to present the data and/or findings in an objective, concise and effective manner.

**Qualifications**:
Education & Experience:

- Relevant marketing/communications/business analytics diploma/degree.
- Additional data, analytics, media and social listening certifications will be advantageous.
- Minimum of 5 years working experience in the field of Data Analysis.
- 3+ years’ experience in use of social, web and brand performance measurement tools.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programmes.
