**Job Description**:
PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A 6 MONTH FIXED TERM CONTRACT

The Role:
Machine is looking for a social media analyst to join their social media team in Johannesburg. The analyst will be responsible for leading the social media analytics and reporting across the agency’s portfolio of clients.

Minimum Criteria & Position details:

- A minimum of 3 years Social Media planning and analytics experience in either an agency or client team.
- Tertiary Marketing and/or Advertising qualification, with social media certifications.
- Proven experience on in the interpretation of data for social media content optimization.

The Social Media Analyst you will be responsible for:
Specific Responsibilities:

- Mine social data for insights that can both show ROI and drive strategy.
- Provide strategists with high quality insights and recommendations to help drive business objectives.
- Upfront strategic guidance using social listening tools and other relevant research data/tools.
- Track performance of various social media outputs and develop/implement changes to improve business results.
- Support SEO strategies, including optimizing keywords in content marketing projects.
- Research how emerging social networks and features can benefit our clients.
- Continuous improvement in terms of reporting and providing insights, this can include data visualisation.
- Strengthen our client’s online presence and brand awareness through effective social media strategies and campaigns.
- Keeping abreast of current events and pop culture to better understand user behaviour.
- Oversee and help to create content for use on social media channels.
- Oversee and create analytical, website and social listening reports to simply visualize actionable insights of social data for content improvement.
- Development and implementation of competitive research/insights.

Business Skills:

- Strong analytical and strategic skills.
- Ability to translate data into practical insights that assist with content optimization.
- Strong understanding of digital and social landscape and platforms, ad formats, performance metrics (owned, earned and paid) and social media best practice.
- Superb inter-personal skills and a passion for creating content for brands on social media channels.
- Ability to engage directly with client, present reports, take and implement feedback.
- Ability to work well as part of a team.
- Have an 'always-on' approach to life.
- Highly organised with an ability to multi-task.
- Proven experience in working with social media tools for scheduling, reporting and gaining insights across all major platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, You Tube). Examples of tools:

- Sprout Social
