**Requirements**:

- A relevant Bachelor’s Degree (NQF 7) in Architecture, Archaeology,

Urban Planning and Design, History, Urban conservation, a relevant
built environment degree, Heritage Management or related
qualification
- 3-5 years’ relevant experience in heritage management - preferably in the built environment
- Sound knowledge and understanding of heritage legislation and

practice
- Registration with the South African Council of Architect Practitioners

(SACAP) and/or Association of Professional Heritage Practitioners
(APHP) is preferred
- Computer proficiency in MS Office & SAP
- A valid Code B driver’ licence

Key Performance Areas
- Providing a heritage impact assessment service in the Regional

office
- Providing professional heritage management input to

multidisciplinary teams, projects and plans
- Providing input to the City’s strategic forward planning and policy
- Initiating and managing heritage improvement projects
- Monitoring compliance with development control conditions
- Enforcement and remedial action of illegal or detrimental activities
- Participates in heritage operational performance reviews through

the facilitation of knowledge/skills transfer
- Engagement with relevant Stakeholders such as

(developers/consultants, community bodies, etc) and other City
Departments
