The Head Office of MRoA is in Johannesburg, with a client service Life office situated in Cape Town.**

Our Life Data team’s objective is to deliver quality data services to our stakeholders, supporting them with insights for the management and steering of the Life portfolio. The team comprise of solution driven individuals with diverse capabilities who are passionate about providing the highest possible standard of service to clients.

Reporting into the Head of Life RIA, you will oversee the full life cycle of back-end development of the Life business database. You are manage the development of ETL processes, data transformation and reporting. You will liaise with internal/external clients to understand their data and systems, analysing and reporting on its content and quality, ensuring it shows compliance with reinsurance treaty conditions and that it is fit for purpose for data users in other departments. Data is assessed, cleansed and loaded to life system to ensure its accuracy and quality before use by accounting, business and actuarial departments in making decisions ensuring effective treaty management. You will work closely with the numerous Life stakeholders including Actuarial teams to power insight, steer and enable consistently informed management decisions.

**Your Job**:

- Guide and oversee team to achieve deliverables.
- Aim to improve data organization and accuracy.
- Help design and develop systems for maintaining the business database, ETL processes, and business intelligence.
- Monitor and troubleshoot performance issues on data servers and help develop business intelligence, business data standards, and processes.
- Communicate with internal/external clients to understand different data files and business rules.
- Experience with Life systems including business knowledge.
- Data analysis and feedback on quality of data files received, with recommendations to improve.
- Understand existing business processes and suggesting improvements.
- Facilitate changes as user requirements change. Knowledge transfer and automation as far as possible.

**Your Profile**:

- Degree or equivalent in a numerate or analytical science, e.g. Actuarial science ,Mathematics, Computer Science.
- Minimum experience of 8 years in SQL server coding and SQL server database administration.
- Life insurance industry(preferably reinsurance) working in a data management environment.
- 3 years’ experience in a lead postion, managing a team of people.
- Additional experience working with SQL server integration services or any similar ETL tools.
- Previous work experience with BI and working with multiple data sources
- Experience in architecture and hands-on physical and logical database designing.
