The repositioning of Supply Chain aims to deliver a strategic commercial front-end that will take the lead in delivering sustainable value to the business. The focus of the global commercial teams (Directs & Indirects) will be on key strategic supplier partnerships, supplier innovation to address technical and sustainability business challenges/opportunities and associated global framework agreements. To create sustainable value, value creation strategies will integrate more traditional commercial value levers with broader technical, safety and sustainability elements that enable the Living Mine. Key sustainability elements include communities, circular economy, carbon neutrality, waterless-mining, and the commitment to sourcing responsibly.

**Job Description**:

- Responsible for strategic management of the Surface Heavy Mining Equipment (HME) category in support of the broader portfolio strategy and business ambition that delivers improved business performance through commercial agreements, enables innovation, supplier partnering and internal stakeholder collaboration.
- Responsible for developing HME category strategies, support input to business cases, plans to ensure security of supply, the advancement of supplier partnering that drives innovation and value, compile and execute sourcing events, support negotiations, establish and execute contracts.
- Embrace an agile Supply Chain by being adaptive and flexible to accommodate and focus on emerging and changing business priorities
- Project management of key initiatives
- Support the development of the broader category portfolio strategy, value creation plans and business cases by providing relevant data, analysis, opportunity assessments and market intelligence.
- Understand regional strategic priorities and develop relevant Category Management strategies to support business needs and improved value delivery with a focus on cost reduction, working capital and TCO initiatives.
- Implement value creation and supplier engagement strategies that align to the overall global Supply Chain strategy, critical tasks, performance targets and Business Unit priorities
- Develop and manage relationships with strategic suppliers, to drive step change in value and deliver innovative solutions that position Anglo American as a partner of choice
- Own the building, negotiation, and execution of global agreements (GFA, RFP) with the major surface mining OEMs.
- Optimize value through innovation, risk mitigation and growth throughout the relationship life cycle.
- Plan and execute a regular cadence of Anglo American - OEM engagements to review a pre-defined set of critical topics

**Qualifications**:

- Degree qualified of equivalent in a relevant discipline
- Solid commercial experience if Heavy Mining Equipment Category management gained in the mining industry
- Good technical knowledge across the SC value chain
- Ability to integrate Commercial, PSC, Supplier Management & Purchasing sub disciplines
- Safety & Sustainability as it relates to Supply Chain & Inclusive Procurement
- Good commercial, negotiation and deal-making, business case development, investment appraisal
- Category Management, sourcing & contracting with Total Cost Ownership approach
- Supplier Relationship Management
- Business Planning, Business Case development
- Working knowledge of regional and local Inclusive Procurement requirements
