The main purpose of this position is to capture high-value domestic and cross-border payments on the South African Multiple Option Settlement (SAMOS) system and the Southern African Development Community Real-time Gross Settlement (SADC-RTGS) system as well as capture the electronic funds transfer (EFT) transactions from both internal and external clients of the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) and the Corporation for Public Deposits (CPD).

Detailed Description
- Engage in short-term planning and perform tasks against work plans as defined in conjunction with the supervisor.
- Perform work independently within established practices, given certain processes, rules and regulations, ensuring compliance with standards, policies and other guidelines.
- Monitor incoming and outgoing payments on Swift Alliance.
- Capture transactions (fund transfers and journals) on Flexcube Core Banking.
- Capture the daily estimate report for the Financial Markets Department (FMD).
- Handle queries raised by internal and external stakeholders and the CPD.
- Perform the reconciliations of various critical accounts.
- Calculate the quarterly interest due to the Central Bank of Lesotho on its Special Rand Deposit Account.
- Capture and process EFT payment recall requests on behalf of customers (mainly government departments).
- Download cash transactions from government accounts held with commercial banks.
- Capture transactions relating to the SARB’s Head Office teller cash withdrawals and petty cash payments, as well as cash deposits.
- Proactively broaden own knowledge of the functional area, displaying a willingness to make improvements in own work (including work methods and practices).
- Evaluate own performance against given criteria, and identify and address task-specific learning needs.

Job Requirements
- a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or an Advanced Diploma in Accounting (NQF 7), Banking Services or an equivalent; and
- a minimum of two years’ experience in a banking settlement environment.
